Cable Installer

Position Title:	Cable Installer
Status:	Full Time; Non-Exempt
Position Days/Hours:	Varies

Job Description:
This position is responsible to set up, install, and secure voice and data cables of various pair counts and sizes according to industry and FCG standards.

Major Responsibilities - not all inclusive:
Install work area outlets for floors, modular furniture and walls Route cable through modular furniture Perform pre-termination procedures; organize, form, dress cables, determine length, slack & label cables Suspend & support cable correctly Build closets Install grounding for racks & equipment Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves, core penetration Identify different types of cable Differentiate & understand the difference between plenum & PVC environments Know the 4-pair and 25-pair color codes Terminate CAT 3 and CAT 5 jacks Mount face plates & surface mount boxes correctly Complete connectors Perform testing

Minimum Requirements - not all inclusive:
Must have reliable transportation and meet FCG driving standards High school diploma or equivalent Basic reading and writing skills Ability to move up to 75lbs., work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces Must possess all necessary tools. Hand tools: screwdriver (regular & phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose & channel locks), hammer and cable stripper. Trade Tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade Ability to travel may be required
